SafeCity's camera network enables real-time collaboration between private security firms, the South African Police Service (SAPS), and other public law enforcement entities to combat crime.
This collaboration significantly increases the efficacy of their efforts.
According to Michael Varney,
Vumacam's Chief Commercial Officer, their technology and partnerships with private security and law enforcement have resulted in significant daily interception rates in Johannesburg. The rapid and impressive response shows that Pretoria will experience a similar transformation against crime as Johannesburg.
According to Vumacam, the first deployment phase involves activating camera poles, and hundreds of new poles will be installed throughout Pretoria in the coming months.
Security firms that participate gain access to comprehensive citywide surveillance aided by technology capable of detecting unusual or suspicious activity.
This all-inclusive solution includes specialised License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras capable of recognising vehicles of interest from SAPS and other Vehicles of Interest Databases.
The video footage could also help solve crimes or identify patterns in illegal behaviour. When emergencies or public infrastructure damage are detected, alerts are sent to public and private law enforcement and emergency services.
Even if a crime occurs in one location, a vehicle associated with that incident can be tracked as it travels through camera-covered areas within other SafeCity zones.
Vumacam's SafeCity initiative, launched last year, has resulted in up to 40 apprehensions per day in Johannesburg due to technological advancements.
The SafeCity initiative will improve communication between public and private spaces, allowing us to protect you and your assets better.
Brinant Group has been protecting many families and businesses in our city for years by utilising technology to advance safety measures, and we strive to provide the best possible protection for Pretoria residents.
